How to use the
Patrol App

Step-by-step for Sector 2 patrollers — register, download, sign in, book, commence, radio, incidents, SOS, and updates. Screens use demo data only (not live ops).

01

Register as a new patroller

New members submit details for senior approval before they can sign in and patrol.

  1. Open Register on the website: benonicpfs2.co.za/patrol/register/ (or tap Register on the login screen).
  2. Enter your full name and the call sign you will use (demo example: S2-ALPHA).
  3. Add your cellphone and email — seniors use these to contact you.
  4. Choose a PIN (min. 4 characters) and confirm it — keep this private.
  5. Fill in patrol vehicle make, model, colour, and registration.
  6. Tap Submit for approval and wait for a Sector 2 admin / senior to approve you.
  7. Once approved, sign in with your call sign + PIN, then download the Android app from Profile.

Tip: You cannot patrol until approved. If login fails after registering, ask a senior to check Admin → pending registrations.

02

Download & install the Android app

Use the official Sector 2 APK (demo screens below). Prefer Wi‑Fi the first time.

  1. After approval, sign in on the website or app, then go to Profile → Download Android App.
  2. Or tap Get / Download Android APK on this promo page.
  3. Allow installs from this source if your phone asks.
  4. Open the downloaded file (cpf-patrol.apk) and Install.
  5. Open the app — you should see the Benoni CPF Sector 2 sign-in screen.

Tip: On some Oppo / ColorOS phones, download in Chrome if the in-app download fails — then install the APK from Downloads.

03

Sign in with your call sign + PIN

Use the same call sign and PIN you registered with (after senior approval).

  1. Enter your call sign (example demo: S2-ALPHA).
  2. Enter your PIN.
  3. Accept the patrol tracking terms if prompted (first time / when updated).
  4. Tap Sign in to Patrol — you land on the Patrol home tab.

Tip: Tick Remember me on a personal phone only. Never share your PIN on WhatsApp.

04

Book your patrol shift

Claim an open slot so seniors know who is covering the beat.

  1. Tap Book on the bottom navigation.
  2. Choose an open shift (date, time, and area).
  3. Tap Book this shift and confirm.
  4. Your booking appears under Your booking — ready to Commence later.

Tip: Actual hours are logged when you Commence and Stand Down — not only when you book.

05

Commence patrol (go live)

Start your booked shift so GPS and ops lists know you are out.

  1. Allow Location / GPS when the phone asks (needed for tracking).
  2. Open the Patrol tab and find your booking under Commence Patrol.
  3. Optional: enter your odometer reading.
  4. Tap Commence Patrol — status becomes On Patrol.

Tip: Before you leave home: mic allowed, GPS on, Radio shows LIVE, then Commence.

06

Use live Radio (Hold to Talk)

Push-to-talk across Sector 2 channels — Main, Incidents, Ops.

  1. Tap the yellow Radio (MIC) button in the centre of the bottom nav.
  2. Allow Microphone when prompted.
  3. Wait until the green LIVE pill appears.
  4. Select the channel you want to talk on (highlighted in yellow).
  5. Hold HOLD TO TALK to transmit — release to listen.
  6. Use Who’s on to see who is on radio / on patrol.

Tip: Radio can stay Live when the app is minimized — use the notification TALK / STOP TX buttons if needed.

07

See who’s on & talk Direct

Know who else is on the net before you call for backup.

  1. On Radio, open the Who’s on tab.
  2. Check who is On radio and On patrol.
  3. Use Direct for a private radio call to one patroller.
  4. Return to Channels for group traffic.

08

Track your patrol on the map

While on duty, Patrol shows live status, distance, and coverage.

  1. Stay on the Patrol tab while moving through your area.
  2. Confirm GPS LIVE / TRACKING chips are on.
  3. Watch patrol time and km covered update as you drive.
  4. When finished, tap Stand Down from Patrol and complete any prompts.

Tip: If GPS drops, open Patrol and refresh location — keep mobile data on.

09

Log an incident with photos

Send clear details + photos to the right WhatsApp groups.

  1. Tap Incident on the bottom nav.
  2. Choose the incident type (demo: Suspicious Activity).
  3. Enter location and a short clear description.
  4. Add photos (camera or gallery) — keep them sharp and relevant.
  5. Tap Submit incident + photos and wait for the confirmation toast.

Tip: Photos only upload if they finish sending — wait for success before closing the app.

10

SOS — only when you need help

One deliberate tap alerts seniors. For life-threatening danger, call 10111 first.

  1. Tap SOS on the bottom nav.
  2. Optional: add a short note and photos for seniors.
  3. Tap SOS — I NEED HELP and confirm.
  4. Stay on the line / radio if you can; check the delivery checklist if shown.
  5. When safe, use Stand down / clear SOS if the app offers it.

Tip: Demo only on this page — never test real SOS unless authorised. Life-threatening = 10111 first.

11

Keep the app updated

New builds fix radio, photos, and Oppo downloads — update when prompted.

  1. When the app shows an Update banner, tap Update / Install.
  2. Or open Profile → Check for Update / Download Android App.
  3. Install the new APK over the old one (your login usually stays).
  4. Open the app again and confirm Radio still shows LIVE.
